Case study written by a JHHSON student near the end of her preclinical period about a surgical patient who had a thoracoplasty performed. Discussion encompasses physical, social, and emotional care of the patient. An emphasis is placed on patient teaching.

Factors effecting perspective on nursing and nursing education (i.e. U.S. increased birth rate and increased life expectancy; effect of this increasing population on the health needs of the nation; other elements influencing nursing and nursing education needs of current times and the near future.
Minutes of proceedings of the 62nd annual meeting of the JHNAA with report of president, reports of all standing and special committees. Special this year was the completion of the book on the history of the SON and its presentation at the meeting.

Various methods of removing aortic aneurysms, including use of "cellophane," wire, ligation of the lesion, excision as treatment of choice when possible. Use of homographs in the surgery also is discussed. Includes several patient histories and photographs.
