There are Maryland State police records on motor vehicle traffic accidents and there are Maryland Injury Prevention Network meeting minutes, 1993. There are correspondence, notes, and records from the Maryland Medical Examiner’s Office. There are mortality data (tables). There are publications files, including copies of chapters, monographs, and conference proceedings by Baker. According to a notation by Baker on one of the proceedings (1974), this was the first presentation of the Injury Severity Score. There are documents pertaining to awards received by Baker, including induction into the Maryland Women’s Hall of Fame, 2006.
The ABC files cover every facet of Baker’s professional working life, including research; committee work within the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health; her teaching at Hopkins, as well as external projects to educate professionals about safety issues in their field; and her efforts toward developing the injury control program at Johns Hopkins. Materials document Baker’s extensive involvement, as a consultant, advisory panel member, and leader, with professional associations, federal agencies, and scientific organizations committed to injury prevention. Baker gave presentations at the National Seminar on Control of Road Accidents and Injuries, Road Safety Council of Malaysia, University of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpar. Her talks were titled, "Issues in Alcohol-Related Injuries," and "Injury Scoring Systems." The conference was held March 31-April 2, 1993. Documents include typescripts of the two talks and Baker’s Keynote address.
Materials include correspondence from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene concerning the Injury Prevention and Control Program as well as data regarding injury patterns of Medicaid enrollees for 1990; governor’s committee notes (Policy Advisory Committee for Traffic Safety and Technical Advisory Committee for Traffic Safety); Maryland Center for Health Statistics report, 1983; Maryland Department of Transportation, Highway Safety Plan & Annual Evaluation Report, 1985 and correspondence concerning collaborating with the JHU Department of Health Policy and Management; copies of statistics from the Injury Fact Book about causes of injury death in Maryland; and printouts of statistical tables on causes of death in Maryland during the years 1979-1987.
