[Series 1] Correspondence. — 1827-1932
Series contains 2 sub-series. Sub-series 1a contains letters written to Henry Barton Jacobs by the Osler family, William Osler, Grace Revere Osler, Edward Revere Osler, and some of Lady Osler's relatives. Sub-series 1b contains some personal letters from William Osler to a variety of individuals.
This material comes from a variety of sources - some from the Tudor and Stuart Club at The Johns Hopkins, some collected by George Harrel, and some are from untraceable sources in the biographical files. Some of the letters presumably were given by those who received them.

    Letter from January 14, 1896 notes Revere's birth. July 11, 1899 letter includes note from Revere. Letters from November 18 and December 5, 1918 are addressed to Mary Jacobs. Two telegrams from December 30-31, 1919, concern Osler's death. Letter April 10, 1920 is addressed to Elizabeth Theiss.

    Wendy Harris donated the letter to the Medical Archives. Letter was part of the estate of her father Dr. John W. Harris. According to John Harris's older brother, he received the letter from Grace Meyers (nee Whiting) who lived in Boston accross the street from the Harris family. It was a gift to John Harris when he entered into medicine.
