Biography
Edmund Bredow Kelly, son of Howard Atwood Kelly considered one of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine's founding physicians, was born in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from Gilman School, Kelly received his B.A. from Princeton University in 1921. He finished graduate course work the following year in anticipation of admission to Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Kelly received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins in 1926 and began his surgical training at Johns Hopkins Hospital. After completion of his training, Kelly entered his father's practice, the Kelly Clinic on Eutaw Street, specializing in radium therapy. Before the onset of World War II, Kelly and some family members embarked on a world cruise aboard their sailboat Fiddler Green. Kelly enlisted in the Johns Hopkins Hospital Base Unit 18 in 1942 achieving the rank of major. Kelly retired from his medical practice in 1946.

Scope and Content
The Edmund Kelly collection is a scrapbook album consisting of photographs and memorabilia of his militiary service with Johns Hopkins Hospital Base Hospital Unit 18 stationed in the Fiji Islands and on the India Burma front. Of particular note are a few labeled photos of the nurses and others who served with Kelly.
