Isabel La Roche Collection
Isabel La Roche was born in Beltsville, Maryland. Before coming to Johns Hopkins, she attended Strayer's Business College in Baltimore. She also worked in Washington, D.C. as a stenographer and at a sanitorium where she became interested in nursing. She was a member of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Training School for Nurses graduating class of 1908. She worked as a private duty nurse from 1908 to 1918. She then served on the Instructive Visiting Nurses Association in Baltimore for 29 years until her retirement in 1947. She was a life member of the Johns Hopkins Nurses Alumni Association.
