Appraisal of Records
Scheduled Records Retention
JHMI has established standards for the retention of business, adminstrative, and financial records based on generally accepted accounting practices, legal and regulatory compliance. Business needs may also effect the retention periods of certain records which could exceed the those of the federal regulations.
Federal Regulations for ResearchersFinally, some records and related materials may be selected, preserved, and made accessible for their enduring historical and administrative value. These records are selected by the Medical Archives staff through a process of archival appraisal, in consultation with offices and individuals across campus. Please contact the Medical Archives with any questions regarding the maintenance of documents which have been retained for the standard period but which may be valuable to JHMI.
