Guiding principles of the Medical Archives advocate open intellectual inquiry as the primary means of advancing new knowledge. Policies are designed to make holdings accessible for use whenever possible, consistent with applicable laws and institutional regulations. The Privacy Board of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions oversees archival policy and procedures for review and adjudication of requests for access to materials protected by privacy laws.
